Our client, a 5-Star International Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead the hotel's financial operations and support its continued growth and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, treasury, internal controls, statutory compliance, cash flow management, and financial reporting, while ensuring alignment with the hotel's business objectives and international brand standards.

The Director of Finance will play a key leadership role in driving financial performance, profitability, and operational efficiency by partnering closely with the General Manager and Executive Committee. The successful candidate will oversee the Finance Department, implement robust financial controls and governance, ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate policies, manage audits and tax requirements, and provide strategic financial insights to support informed business decisions and long-term sustainable growth.

This is a senior leadership position requiring exceptional financial expertise, commercial acumen, and strong leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a Director of Finance, Financial Controller, or similar senior finance leadership role within a 4-star or 5-star international hotel, preferably with a globally recognized hospitality brand. Extensive experience in hotel financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, business partnering, ERP and financial management systems, internal controls, and team leadership is essential. The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical, decision-making, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a passion for delivering financial excellence and supporting outstanding hospitality operations.

Salary: 5,000 USD 

Hard Ship Allowance:  500 USD 

Transportation Allowance:  200 USD 

Accommodation:  Provided

Weekends/Days off:  1 day per week

Candidate Requirements: 

• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within a 4-star or 5-star international hotel, preferably with a globally recognized hospitality brand. 
• Strong knowledge of hotel financial operations, including rooms, food & beverage, banqueting, spa, and other revenue-generating departments. 
• Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, cost control, and business performance analysis. 
• Proven experience overseeing hotel accounting operations, month-end and year-end closing, statutory reporting, audits, taxation, and compliance with local regulations and corporate policies. 
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide strategic financial insights that drive profitability, revenue growth, operational efficiency, and informed business decision-making. 
• Experience implementing and maintaining robust internal controls, financial governance, risk management, and asset protection. 
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, financial reporting tools, and hotel financial systems. Experience with SunSystems, Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft, or other hospitality ERP/accounting systems is highly desirable. 
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance teams while collaborating effectively with the General Manager, Executive Committee, department heads, corporate offices, owners, and external auditors. 
• Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. 
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, CA, or an equivalent certification is highly preferred. 
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or MBA would be an advantage. 
• Previous experience in the Middle East, preferably Iraq or the GCC, and familiarity with the financial and regulatory requirements of international hotel operations will be considered a strong advantage.
